SUMMARY

AND ACTION REQUIRED (IF ANY) (Continued)

RAI 4-8. The staff discussed the different temperature limits used for the overpack and inner shell as noted in FSAR table 2-3. Holtec stated these temperature limits are informed by safety analyses. Some analyses were done at higher temperatures, so higher temperatures were used as the limits. No action is needed.

RAI 5-1. Holtec applied a penalty to compensate the increased source terms from the new 10x10J fuel which is heavier than the design basis assembly. The staff asked Holtec to provide justification for the choice of penalty.

ACTION: Holtec will consider the differences in source terms associated with the heavier fuel assembly, burnup profile, and moderator in the penalty calculation, and provide justification for the choice of penalty.

RAI 9-1(a). Holtec clarified a typographical error in FSAR.

ACTION: Holtec will correct it.

RAI 9-1 (b). The staff noted that the studs with nuts through the VCT anchor blocks cannot be so tight that they crush the gasket under the overpack lid.

ACTION: Holtec will look into it and provide a caution note.
