Monticello SLRA - 2nd Round Request for Additional Information Date: Monday, August 26, 2024 8:15:00 AM Attachments: RAI-holding ponds.pdf Importance: High

Dear Shawn Hafen,

By letter dated January 9, 2023 (Agencywide Documents Access and Management System Package No. ML23009A353), Northern States Power Company, submitted to the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) an application for license renewal of Renewed Facility Operating License No.

DPR-22, Monticello Nuclear Generating Plant, Unti 1 (Monticello), pursuant to Section 103 of the Atomic Energy Act of 1954, as amended, and Part 54 of Title 10 of the Code of Federal Regulations, Requirements for renewal of operating licenses for nuclear power plants.

On August 9, 2024, the NRC staff held a teleconference with a National Historic Preservation Act Section 106 consulting party. During the teleconference, the consulting party identified additional cultural resources and while onsite observed additional construction activities at the Monticello site.

After considering the new information from the consulting party, the NRC staff has identified the need for additional information to complete our environmental review and to issue the final EIS.

Specifically, the NRC staff has identified a need for the information addressed in the attached RAI.

The schedule for your response to this RAI was discussed with Steve Sollom of your staff and a mutually agreeable date for the response is within 30 days from the date of this email. If you have any questions, please contact me by e-mail at Jessica.Umana@nrc.gov.

Sincerely, Jessica M. Umana, ENVIRONMENTAL PROJECT MANAGER NMSS/REFS/ELRBl 301-415-5207 l TWFN 4B47 l jessica.umana@nrc.gov
