Reactor coolant is the fluid which removes heat from reactor fuel. Its the fluid within the Reactor Coolant System.

In most cases the coolant is water but some reactor types could use a different coolant.

The water picks up radioactive material but it is filtered continuously by Reactor Water Cleanup system.
