This refers to the routine safety inspection conducted by Mr. D. M. Barss and
Ms. H. J. Simons of this office on August 20, 22-24, 1990, of activities at
the LaSalle County Nuclear Generating Station, Units 1 and 2, authorized by
NRC Operating Licenses No. NPF-11 and No. NPF-18, and to the discussion of
our findings with Mr. G. Diederich and others at the conclusion of the
inspection,
9 The enclosed copy of our inspection report identifies areas examined during
the inspectfon. Within these areas, the inspection consisted of a selective
examination of procedures and representative records, observations, and
interviews with personrel.

One non-cited violation of Ni C requirements was identified during the course
of this inspection involving a failure to provide specialized training for
emergency repair and damege control teams. The violation was not cited
because the licensee had already identified the weakness and had taken prompt
d action to provide upgraded training. No reply to the noi, cited violation is
requi red.
In accordance with 10 CFR 2.790 of the Commission's regulations, a copy of
this letter and the enclosed inspection report will be placed in the NRC
Public Document Room.
