OF JULY 21, 2020, PUBLIC MEETING WITH INDUSTRY TO DISCUSS DRAFT REGULATORY GUIDE 1362 ACCEPTABILITY OF PROBABILISTIC RISK ASSESSMENT RESULTS FOR RISK-INFORMED ACTIVITIES On July 21, 2020, the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) staff held a public 1
teleconference with representatives from the Nuclear Energy Institute (NEI) and others. The purpose of the meeting was to discuss Efforts Supporting Draft Regulatory Guide (DG) 1362 Acceptability of Probabilistic Risk Assessment Results for Risk-Informed Activities2.
At the start of the meeting, NRC staff announced that DG-1362 became publicly available on June 26, 2020, and the NRC issued the Federal Register Notice (FRN)3 on July 3, 2020, that includes DG-1362 and the associated regulatory analysis with a 30-day comment period.
DG-1362 has proposed endorsing PWROG-19027-NP, Newly Developed Methods and Peer Review,4 and NEI 17-07, Performance of PRA Peer Reviews Using the ASME/ANS PRA Standard,5 with few clarifications and exceptions. During the meeting, NRC staff and industry representatives discussed the exceptions and clarifications, and the steps taken to address them. The NRC staff sought initial industry responses to two questions that were included in the FRN to seek industry responses with respect to prolonged retention of some peer review Facts
& Observations (F&Os) and steps that industry may employ to close those F&Os.

M. Markley At the conclusion of the discussion, NRC staff restated its desire to receive public comments within the 30-day comment period on DG-1362 and the two questions in the FRN.
No regulatory decisions were made in the meeting.
Following the discussion, an opportunity was afforded to any other participants who wished to ask questions or make comments. No questions or comments were received from the public.
