OPR 71 AND DPft-62 i CONDENSER VACUUM PUMP ISOLATION Gentleman-In a letter dated March 5,1997 (BSEP 97-0012), Carolina Power & Light (CP&L) Company requested license amendments for the Brunswick Steam Electric Plant (BSEP) Unit Nos.1 !
and 2. The propcaed amendments incorporate a now Technical SpecMcailon pertaining to the i use of the main steam line radiation monitor signals for a trip of the condenser vacuum pumps.
This submittal requested that the proposed amendments, once approved by the NRC, be issued witn an effective date of no later than 30 days from tne date of issuance of the amendments. To facilitate implementation of the requirec' plant modification, CP&L requests that the proposed amendments be issued with an effective date of prior to the nort reactor startup requiring operation of the condenser vacuum pumps, but no later than the end of Refueling Outape 11 (8112R1) for BSEP Unit No.1 and Refueling Outage 12 (B213R1) for BSEP Unit No.9.
Enclosed is a ropiscoment for Technical Specmoetion index page X for each unit that l incorporates an administrative update resulting from the issuance on April 18,1997, of ;
Amendment Nov.184 end 215 for BSEP Unit No.1 and 55EP Unit No. 2, respect!vely. Also l enclosed is a replacement for Technical Specification Bases page B 3/4 3-7 for BSEP Unit No. 2 that removes a section discussing ATWS recirculation pump trip actuation instrumentation. The ATWS instrumentation section does not spoear on the current Bases 'I page and was incorrectly included on the page provided in the March 5.1997, submittal.
