Americium 241 Oilwell logging (Up to 5 curies)
DESCRIPTION:
Americium oxide powder and beryllium powder are mixed in an inner stainless steel capsule sealed by an end plug and a continuous inert gas weld and having a minimum wall thickness of 45 mils. The inner capsule is sealed in an outer stain 1 ss steel capsule having a minimum wall thickness of 25 mils by use of an end plug and a continuous inert gas weld.
The bottom of the source (plug-end) includes a 1/4-20 thread tap 0.200" deep in the 0.250" thick plug. Overall length of the capsule is 2" and overall diameter is 0.75".
PROTOTYPE TESTING:
This source has been tested and classified under the ANSI N5.10-1968 standard as E66535.
RADIATION LEVELS:
6 The neutron yield of the source is 2.2 x 10 neutrons per second per curie. The gamma factor is 10.1 mR m 2/hr-C1.
LABELING:
The model and serial number of each source is stamped in the bottom of the source.
