As a result of the inspection conducted on August 10-14 and 19-21, 1987, and in accordance with 10 CFR Part 2, Appendix C - General Statement of Policy and j Procedure for NRC Enforcement Actions (1985), the following violation was -

Technical Specification 4.11.1.1.1 requires that radioactive liquid wastes be sampled and analyzed according to the sample and analysis program of Table 4.11-1. Contrary to.the above, on July 22, August 4 and 9, 1987 the licensee spectroscopy system failed to identify and quantify Cs-134, present in liquid waste samples, at concentrations greater than 5'x 10-7 uCi/ml. l This is a Severity Level IV violation (Supplement IV). j Pursuant to the provisions of 10 CFR 2.201, you are required to submit to this l office within thirty days of the date of this Notice a written statement or explanation in reply, including for each violation: (1) corrective action taken and the results achieved; (2) corrective action to be taken to avoid i further violations; and (3) the date when full compliance will be achieved. i Consideration may be given to extending your response time for good cause shown. l
