I. . PURPOSE
)
The purpose of this document is to provide instruction on changing the Automatic recirc line-up to a manually overridden one to complete the ventilation of the Reactor Room. I II. PRECAUTIONS A. The following precautions shall be observed during all phases of the operation. 1. All equipment and tools that come in contact with exposed sections of potentially contaminated systems shallbe surveyed for contamination.
- 2. All operations concerning the reactor ventilation system shallbe under the direct supervision of a Senior Reactor Operator.
3. All work shall cease if there is a question about the procedure or operation by any member of the Operation and/or Health Physics staff. Work will only continue when the question is answered to their satisfaction or management resolves the matter. Ill. RADIOLOGICAL CONTROLS A. Exposure Control:
- 1. A pre-work briefing shall be performed subsequent to commencing this SOP.
- 2. Whole body TLD and pocket dosimeter shall be required.
- 3. The Health Physics Supervisor shall specify dosimetry location and any additional dosimetry required.
B. Contamination Control:
- 1. Lab coats, and rubber gloves shall be required for all personnel in the immediate work area.
IV. CHANGING THE VENTILATION LINE-UP
//F A. Change the Rx Room Cam sample point to the stack.
B/- 4 B. Disconnect the Rx Room Ventilation Damper motor linkages from the Rx Room Recirc and Exhaust dampers. Then Manually shift the dampers to exhaust Rx Room Air to the Stack. (See Fig.1 attached). 4 M C. Ventilate in this configuration for 2 hours. , ba $5's J 2'5* * 'l" A S * * " * * " " * "
- D. Perform an air sample of the Reactor room. If air samples are within limits, retum j
. ventilation to normal. If not normal continue to ventilate the Reactor room until air )
samples are within the limits.
