Special Safety Inspection No. 99990001/88-096 Enclosed is a copy of Special Safety Inspection Report No. 99990001/88-096 which documents the inspection performed by NRC Region I personnel on August 24, 1988. The inspection was conducted at Exide Corporation's Muhlenburg Township facility. The inspection was performed at the request and in support of the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Resources. The scope of the inspection was limited to the investigation of an allegation that radioactive material had been improperly disposed of. The inspection consisted of a series of radiation surveys of the facilities lead scrap receipt and handling areas and interviews with facility personnel.
Within the scope of the inspection, no apparent violat. ions were observed.
No evidence of radiation levels in excess of background were found. The allegation was not substantiated.
