SUMMARY
OF l MONTHLY OPERATING EXPERIENCE September 1985 i
September 1 The Unit entered the mcnth in Mode 5 as a result of a reactor trip / safety injection due to a loss of instrument air which occurred on August 29, 1985. Plant heat up began on the 1st with the Unit entering Mode 4 at 1730 hours0.02 days
0.481 hours
0.00286 weeks
6.58265e-4 months
.
September 2 Plant heat-up continued with the Unit entering Mode 3 at 0108 hours0.00125 days
0.03 hours
1.785714e-4 weeks
4.1094e-5 months
.
September 3 Plant heat-up continued wi th reactor criticali ty achieved at 1247 hours0.0144 days
0.346 hours
0.00206 weeks
4.744835e-4 months
and the Unit being synched to the grid at 1411 hours0.0163 days
0.392 hours
0.00233 weeks
5.368855e-4 months
.
September 4 The Station operated at a reduced power level of approximately 57 percent as a result of maintenance being performed on feedwater pump [ FW-P-1A).
September 5 Repai rs to feedwater pump [ FW-P-1A] were completed at 1153 hours0.0133 days
0.32 hours
0.00191 weeks
4.387165e-4 months
and power level was subsequently increased to a nominal 100 percent.
September 6 The Station was in Operational Mode 1 with reactor power through at a nominal 100 percent. Reactor Coolant System was September 15 at a normal operating pressure and temperature.
September 16 Inadve rtant grounding of Vital Bus #2 caused the Loop B OTAT and OPAT bistables to trip producing a reactor trip at 1026 hours0.0119 days
0.285 hours
0.0017 weeks
3.90393e-4 months
. The reactor achieved criticality at 2203 hours0.0255 days
0.612 hours
0.00364 weeks
8.382415e-4 months
and the Unit was synched to the grid at 2328 hours0.0269 days
0.647 hours
0.00385 weeks
8.85804e-4 months
.
September 17 The Station was in Operational Mode 1 with reactor through power at a nominal 100 percent. Reactor Coolant September 25 4 System was at normal operating pressure and temperature.

September 1985 Summary of Monthly Operating Experience September 26 At 1023 hours0.0118 days
0.284 hours
0.00169 weeks
3.892515e-4 months
the plant P250 computer began reading N42 and N43 approximately 20 percent low. This resulted in two channels calculating an erroneous targeta 0. At 1120 hours0.013 days
0.311 hours
0.00185 weeks
4.2616e-4 months
operators noticed the rod position indicators (RPI's) for control banks C and D reading 200 steps with the rods actually at 228 and 225 steps. At 1125 hours0.013 days
0.313 hours
0.00186 weeks
4.280625e-4 months
, the interaction between the plant variable computer and the plant P250 com t deenergized and both the RPIs and the awere operations monitor no$pu returned to normal.
er was Plant t affected by this event.
September 27 The Station was in Operational Mode I with reactor through power at a nominal 100 percent. Reactor Coolant System September 30 was at normal operating pressure and temperature.
