Dear Mr. O'Reilly:
This letter is a Special Report submitted as required by McGuire Nuclear Station Technical Specification 3.7.8.
Duke Power Company has a design change planned which modifies the total number of mechanical snubbers identified in the Technical Specifications.
'A description of the planned change follows.
Modification No. MG-2-0315 (Unit 2) 1 This modificatien deletes one mechanical snubber in the Main Feedwater (CF)
System. A reanalysis of the affected piping showed that the stresses are within acceptable values without the snubber installed.
A revision to Technical Specification 3.7.8 to reflect the above modification l will be submitted with the next license amendment request.
