Dear Sir:
The NRC was notified of a potentially reportable deficiency in Reference (A) and an Interim Report was transmitted by Reference (B) .
At that time, it was estimated that a Final Report would be available by August 20, 1982.
- Due to the extensive investigation and evaluation required, a revised Interim Report is attached. It is now expected that this information will be finalized by October 20, 1982, at which time a complete report will be submitted.

-REVISION 1-INTERIM REPORT - DER 82-17 POTENTIALLY REPORTABLE DEFICIENCY ARIZONA PUBLIC SERVICE COMPANY (APS)
T PVNGS UNIT 1
- l. POTENTIAL PROBLEM ,
i Arizona Public Service Company quality assurance activity found that ,
Combustion Engineering supplied documents for instrumentation calibration ~!
are not always updated in the Bechtel Supplier Document Register because .
of the following conditions:
- a. The original submittal in the SDR was logged without the dashes in i the C-E drawing number, while the resubmittal was logged with the .
dashes in the CE number. i i
- b. Some of the subsequent revisions submitted by C-E against the Instrument Class document (14273-ICE-0005 50) were not recognized as such by Bechtel and were given a different control number. ,
- c. Combustion Engineering may not have provided Bechtel with all the latest revisions of one or more required documents due to oversight.
The above condition may have. caused some C-E supplied instruments to be miscalibrated; however, Bechtel Construction has coordinated this activity i directly with the C-E representatives at the jobsite.
II. APPROACH TO AND STATUS OF PROPOSED RESOLUTION r Bechtel has transmitted the Supplier Document Register to C-E for review.
This review will aid in determining which documents are not correctly i statused for calibration purposes in the register. Once this information ,
is known, an evaluation of the condition can be made and any necessary ,
rework will be identified.
Bechtel has received the data from the first review by C-E. The evaluation of this partial package indicates that no omissions or duplications which ,
could potentially impact design or construction htve'co far been found. I I
III. PROJECTED COMPLETION OF CORRECTIVE ACTION AND SUBMITTAL OF THE FINAL REPORT Evaluation of this condition and submittal of the Final Report is 3 forecast to be completed by.0ctober 20, 1982. ;
