Dear Mr. Ballard:

Regarding your request for information on the proposed NEPCO nuclear power plant sites, I have contacted the Energy Facilities Siting Council, which has legal authority over the siting of all major power generating facilities in Massachusetts, and find that 4

they are responding to your request as well.

Given their legal jurisdiction and the fact that they have conducted studies on another proposed nuclear plant by Northeast Utilities in Montague, only two miles from one of ".he NEPCO pro-posed sites, it is appropriate that they respond to your request.

,c From our persp'ective of promoting and implementing the State's- /

growth and economic development policies, we will work with the Council and incorporate our comments into their response.
