Dear Mr. Denton:

On December 31, 1980, the Applicants in this proceeding announced their decision to cancel Montague Nuclear Power Station, Units 1 and 2.

This decision resulted from the Applicants' determination that the capacity which would have been supplied by the Montague units will not be needed in the period for which they had been planned.

For this reason, the Applicants hereby withdraw their application for a construction permit for the Montague units.

Enclosed for your information is a copy of the " Applicants Notice of Withdrawal of Application for Construction Permit and Motion to Terminate Proceeding", which has been filed with the Atomic Safety and Licensing Board.

Very truly yours, ,
