Dear Mr. Fairchild:
2 Week before last the Mechanical Engineering 'epartmentD recommended Ic that we convert our AGN-201 training reactor to a simulator as a 7 possible solution to the long-term utilization in a program reduced $
in scope for our nuclear engineering option. Our plan would be to 3 remove the fuel from the core and either store it in a locked vault or ship it wherever the NRC requires. Our interest at this time is j
in knowing about the feasibility of this proposal in light of the ;
prospects of being ireed from regulations, inspections, reporting, ,
etc.

I understand that this could either involve converting the present $
license to possession only, or filing an application for permanent *
('-
decomissioning of the reactor. There is only a remote possibility that we would ever want to put it back into operation, but need your )-
advice on the proper procedures. : .
r The indemnity fee on our license (S100) for a one year period is 3 subject to renewal on December 14; therefore, a prompt response I would be helpful. ;
2 Sincerely, -
