Dear Mr. Barrington:

I would like to personally invite you and other members of your organization to attend a meeting between the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) and FPL Energy Seabrook, LLC (FPL) in which the NRC staff will discuss with FPL our annual assessment of the safety performance of Seabrook Station.

The meeting will be held at 3:00 p.m. on March 16, 2005, at the Seabrook Emergency Operations Facility, 165 Gosling Road, Newington, NH. At the meeting we will briefly discuss our Reactor Oversight Process and then discuss with FPL our assessment of their safety performance of Seabrook Power Station and their response to our assessment. The meeting is open to the public for observation.

Following the presentation, the NRC staff will be available to answer questions from you and members of the public regarding the safety performance of Seabrook and the role of the NRC in ensuring safe plant operations. Please feel free to contact me in advance if there are any particular topics of interest that you would like to discuss at the meeting.

The NRC recently completed its annual assessment of the safety performance of the Seabrook Power Station in accordance with the NRC Reactor Oversight Process. Our assessment used the most recent performance indicator data and inspection findings from January 1, 2004 through December 31, 2004.

We described our assessment results in a letter to FPL on March 2, 2005. A copy of the assessment letter and the NRCs meeting notice with agenda are enclosed.
