Monitoring of Neutron-Absorbing Materials in Spent Fuel Pools

NRG Generic Letter 2016-01: Monitoring of Neutron-Absorbing Materials in Spent Fuel Pools, April 7, 2016(ML1697A169)

On April 7, 2016, the NRG issued the above reference to all power reactor licensees except those that have permanently ceased operation with all power reactor fuel removed from onsite spent fuel pool storage. The purpose of this letter is to provide a response for South Texas Project Electric Generating Station (STPEGS), Units 1 and 2. STPEGS Units 1 and 2 fit the requirements of the Category 1 response category. As a Category 1 licensee, this letter confirms that no neutron absorbing materials are currently credited to meet NRG requirements in 10 CFR 50.68, "Criticality Accident Requirements".

There are no commitments in this letter.
