On August 1, 1979, a report was made under the provisions of 10CFR50.5S(e) concerning component failures in the Westinghouse 7300 Series Process Control Systs.It was discovered that a f ailure of a component on the 7300 Serias signal comparito 'iAL carl 9sult") in a short.?i condition that ciasad tM 3:seciited 5istable to fail in an unLufe m de.

This failure would, ho o//er, he detected by normal M 11t oeriadic tastin1.

The vendor, Westinghouse, has sucolded revisti components (T?xas Instra.vnt 75460 DIM output driver chip with oull-uo resistorsi to correct all NAL cards. The replacements will be completed on North Anna Unit ? orior to fuel loading.

This is our final report on this subject, If further information is desired, please advise.
