The NRC is Seeking Input on its Evaluation of Training and Experience for Authorized UsersTrainingandExperienceRequirementsTheNRC'strainingandexperience(T&E)requirementsinSubpartEofTitle10oftheCodeofFederalRegulationsPart35providethreewaysthataphysiciancanbeauthorizedtoadministerunsealedbyproductmaterialsorradiopharmaceuticalsrequiringawrittendirective:
1)Aphysiciancanbecertifiedbyamedicalspecialtyboard,whosecertificationprocessisrecognizedbytheNRCoranAgreementState.2)Aphysiciancancompleteastructurededucationalprogramandsupervisedworkexperienceunderanalternatepathway.Therequired700hoursbreaksdowntoaminimumof200hoursofclassroomandlaboratorytraining,and500hoursofsupervisedworkexperience.
3)AphysiciancanbeauthorizedifpreviouslyidentifiedasanauthorizeduseronanNRCorAgreementStatelicenseorpermit(i.e.,grandfathered).TheNRCisEvaluatingtheAlternatePathwayT&ERequirements TheNRCisdeterminingwhetheritmakessensetoestablishtailoredT&Erequirementsfordifferentcategoriesofradiopharmaceuticals.
