{714)455-2654 A DIVISION OF GENEPAL ATOMIC COMPANY TPZ: 192:HAS: 82 November 12, 1982 Mr.Keith L.Turley Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Arizona Public Service Comply 411 N.Central Avenue Phoenix, Arizona 85004

Dear Mr.Turley:

This letter constitutes the final bi-weekly status report on our Inde-pendent Quality Assurance Evaluation of the Palo Verde Nuclear Generat-ing Station, and covers the period from October 23 through Novanber.5, 1982.Copies of this report are also being sent to the U.S.Nuclear Regulatory GmTIission, Bechtel Power Corporation and CQTIbustion Engi-neering Corporation.

As related in the previous report, all of the review tasks are complete and the 89 potential finding reports had been processed to their final classification.

In the period covered by this report, Corrective Action Plans (CAPs)have been received for the 17 Findings.'Ihe reviews of 12 of the CAPs have been completed and the other 5 are being reviewed.%he blanks in the Final Report are being filled-in as the CAP reviews are completed.

Publication of the final report is now projected for the week of November 15, 1982.

I As discussed with Mr.Van Brunt earlier this week, due to the unexpected delays'in processing of the PFRs and CAPs, we now project a slight cost overrun on the allocated contract funding.Hmrever, this is expected to be well within the total authorized contract figure.lf you have any questions regarding this report, please call me.Sincerely, N..Simon Project Hanager cc: C.Ferguson/C-E E.Licitra/NRC D.M.Sternberg/NRC E.E.Van Brunt, Jr./APS G.L.Nessman/TPT N.Nilson/BPC 1 a IP
