DRAFT DRAFT REQUEST FOR ADDITIONAL INFORMATION PROPOSED REVISION TO REACTOR VESSEL SURVEILLANCE CAPSULE WITHDRAWAL SCHEDULES FIRSTENERGY NUCLEAR OPERATING COMPANY BEAVER VALLEY POWER STATION, UNITS 1 AND 2 DOCKET NOS. 50-334 AND 50-412 By letter dated May 28, 2013, 1 First Energy Nuclear Operating Company (FENOC, the licensee) submitted a request to revise the reactor vessel (RV) surveillance capsule withdrawal schedules for the Beaver Valley Power Station, Units 1 and 2 (BVPS-1 and BVPS-2). In order to complete its review, the staff requires additional information.
Appendix H to 10 CFR Part 50 states, "Each capsule withdrawal and the test results must be the subject of a summary technical report to be submitted, as specified in § 50.4, within one year of the date of capsule withdrawal, unless an extension is granted by the Director, Office of Nuclear Reactor Regulation." Electric Power Research Institute's "Materials Reliability Program:
Coordinated PWR Reactor Vessel Surveillance Program (CRVSP) Guidelines (MRP-326)"
dated December 2011, 2 states that BVPS-1 Capsule X "is planned to be withdrawn at a fluence of 5.01 x 10 19 n/cm2 in 2013".
