| Event Description | The following report was received by the Louisiana Department of Environmental Quality [the Department]:
On January 31, 2023, University Hospital & Clinics, Inc. notified the Department of a Nuclear Medicine Event. A patient back on October 26, 2022, was being treated with thyroid ablation with isotope I-131 with an activity of 30 mCi. The patient was found out to be pregnant at eleven weeks at the time of treatment. The physicist determined that the fetus received 5 rads. Louisiana Event Report Number: LA20230001 |
