3315 Old Forest Road Lynchburg, VA 24501
SUBJECT:
RECEIPT OF FRAMATOME, INC., LETTER IN RESPONSE TO NRC CONFIRMATORY ORDER EA-16-016
Dear Mr. Peters:
This letter acknowledges receipt of your July 27, 2018, letter (Agencywide Documents Access Management System Accession No. ML18227A138) which provided the results and recommendations of an independent third-party consultant who conducted a review and written assessment of Framatomes written import/export compliance program and training activities.
Section V.8 of NRC Confirmatory Order (CO) EA-16-016 dated August 4, 2016, requires that AREVA, Inc. (now Framatome, Inc.) engage an independent third-party consultant with U.S.
Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) regulatory experience to conduct this review and, within 30 calendar days of the receipt of the final audit report, share the consultants written assessment. The first audit report to the NRC was to be submitted no later than 2 years from the issuance of the CO.
The NRC notes that the independent third-party consultant Mr. William H. Ruland, of Steelhead Consulting, LLC, fully meets the COs regulatory experience requirement, and that submission of the first audit complies with Section V.8 of the Order.
Please contact Mr. Juan Peralta, Chief, Enforcement Branch, at (301) 287-9510 if you have any further questions regarding the August 4, 2016, CO.
Sincerely,
/RA/
Anne T. Boland, Director Office of Enforcement
