Inaccordance withtheGinnaStationTechnical Requirements Manual(TRM),SectionTR3.7.2,RequiredActionC.1,whichrequiresaSpecialReportoutlining thecauseofthesysteminoperability andplansforrestoring thesystemtooperablestatus,thisthirty(30)daySpecialReportisbeingsubmitted.

OnApril7,1997,atapproximately 1600EDST,thesuppression systemwhichprotectstheServiceBuildingwasremovedfromserviceanddeclaredinoperable.

Thesystemwasdeclaredinoperable tocompletetheremovalofseveralsystemsprinkler headswhichwerenotrequired.

Compensatory actions,consisting ofanhourlyfirewatchtour,weretakenuponthestartofthemaintenance activities asrequiredperTR3.7.2RequiredActionB.Maintenance activities werecompleted at1730EDSTonApril7,1997,andthesystemwasventedandfilled(afterthemainisolation valveforthissuppression systemwasreturnedtothefullopenposition).
