| The NRC staff issued Reference I on March 12, 2012. Enclosures 2 and 4, of Reference 1, contain Requested Actions, Requested Information, and Required Response associated with Recommendations 2.1 and 2.3, respectively, for Flooding. Carolina Power & Light Company (CP&L) and Florida Power Corporation (FPC) provide the following response.

| United States Nuclear Regulatory Commission RA-12-024 Page 2 Recommendation 2.1: Flooding states:

| Within approximately 60 days of the date of this information request, NRC staff will determine the priority for each reactor site to complete the hazard reevaluation report.
| |
| The site priority will determine the submittal date for addressees to provide written responses to Requested Information item 1 (Hazard Reevaluation Report).
| |
| The priorities for completing the flood hazard reevaluation reports, for the sites listed above, were issued by the NRC staff in Reference 2. CP&L and FPC acknowledge receipt of the priorities and, based on those priorities, plan to provide Required Response Item No. 2 as specified in Enclosure 2 of Reference 1. further states:

| If an addressee cannot meet the requested response date, the addressee must provide a response within 90 days of the date of this information request and describe the alternative course of action that it proposes to take, including the basis of the acceptability of the proposed alternative course of action and estimated completion dates.

| CP&L and FPC plan to meet the requested date for the required responses in Enclosure 2 of Reference 1.

| Recommendation 2.3: Flooding, Required Response No. 1 states:
| |
| Within 90 days of the date of this information request, the addressee will confirm that it intends to use the NRC-endorsed flooding walkdown procedures or provide the NRC a description of the process that will be used to conduct the walkdowns and to develop the needed information.

| CP&L and FPC confirm their intent to utilize the flooding walkdown procedure (NEI 12-07, Guidelines for Performing Verification Walkdowns of Plant Flood Protection Features) endorsed by Reference 3 as the basis for the flooding walkdowns at the sites listed above., further states:
