Dear Mr. Denton:

I understand that Carolina Power

& Light. Company has requested an exemption from the full scale evacuation drill required.prior to the fueling of the Shearon Harris nuclear plant.

I object to this request.

and feel that it is very important that evacuation plans be carefully worked out and pract:iced.

I am particularly concerned, with the evacuation of school children as my child will be attending school within t:he lO mile zone and currently each school bus makes more than one trip to transport children home on routine days.

be sure that my child will be on the first bus load?

My principal request, however, is that you revoke the prefueling

-'icense for Shearon Harris plant because-of the lack of a solution to the high level radioactive waste storage

problem, the plant:'s location adjacent'to (and upwind from) a highly populated

area, and CPGL'q poor performance record as -an operator of nuclear plants.
