NRC Docket No. 50-482 Subj: Interim Report on Potential 50.55(e)

Nuclear Coating in the Reactor Building Cear Mr. Seidle:

Cn July 25, 1980, Mr. E.W. Creel reported to Mr. C.R. Oberg of the NRC Region IV office that the Constructor had stopped applying coating in the Reactor Building at Wolf Creek.

This action resulted from questions re-garding the adequacy of the Constructor's coating procedures.

The Lead Architect / Engineer has reviewed and approved with comments the Constructor's work procedure relating to safety-related coatings appli-cation.

Coating activities were subsequently released from the Work Hold on September 9, 1980.

The Constructor is now extracting data from the coating records of the previously applied coatings (base coat and top coat).

Compilation of data by the Constructor and analysis of the data by our A/E is expected to take approximately two months to complete.

A further report on this matter will be submitted by January 15, 1981.

Yours very trul'f, j.
