May 1-31, 1990.

This inspection pertained to activities authorized by NRCz

Operating License No. NPF-42 for the Wolf Creek Generating Station, and our

findings were discussed with Mr. J. A. Bailey and other members of your staff

at the conclusion of the inspection.

Areas examined during the inspection included plant status, operational safety

verification, monthly surveillance observation, monthly maintenance

observation, refueling activities, plant startup from refueling, onsite

followup of events at operating power reactors, verification of containment

,

integrity, and review of a licensee event report. Within these areas, the

inspection consisted of selective examination of procedures and representative

records, interviews with personnel, and observations by the NRC inspectors.-

,

The inspection findings are documented in.the enclosed inspection report.

One unresolved item is identified in paragraph 8'of the enclosed report.'

OODuring this inspection, it was found that' certain of your activities 'were 'in

violation of NRC requirements. However, this violation is not being cited

because the criteria specified in Section V.G.1 of the Enforcement Policy were'

satisfied, as described in paragraph 8 of the enclosed. inspection report.
