Detroit Edison Letter to NRC, " Schedule of Emergency Response Information System",

EF2-72264, dated October 6,19 84.

Subject:

Completion Schedule for ERIS/SPDS As indicated to you in Reference 2 above, Detroit Edison is in the process of completing the installation and testing of Fermi 2's Safety Parameter Display System and Emergency Response Information System.

Additional training for the personnel who will be utilizing these systems will also be provided.

With the addition of these systems, the ability of Fermi-2 to respond in an emergency situation will be enhanced.

However, even without these systems in place, Edison has demonstrated through two successful emergency exercises that the existing equipment and procedures are adequate if they are needed.

While Edison remains committed to completing and operating these systems as expeditiously as practicable, it requests the NRC to allow the Company until December 1985 to complete the work.

This date is believed consistent with the time the NRC staff has allowed other utilities in similar circumstances.

This will also allow for a better utilization of resources and will avoid needless paperwork if small amounts of additional time were needed to complete this work beyond our previously identified schedules.
