Licensees have responded to the GL 96-06 request, and in order to assure that licensees have adequately evaluated the waterhammer and two-phase flow concerns, licensees were asked to provide additional information concerning the actual analyses that were completed. As responses to the staff's request for additional information are received, they are being screened to determine if further review by an expert in waterhammer and two-phase flow analysis is warranted. Because waterhammer and two-phase flow analyses can be quite complex, requiring specific knowledge and expertise that is not readily available within the staff, the staff will rely on contract assistance to complete any additional f eview effort that may be warranted in this regard.
