Dear Mr. Rode:
This refers to your letter dated March 3, 1989, requesting recision of a violation issued to Combustion Engineering, Inc., Hematite, by Region III on February 3, 1989.
Based upon the findings of our inspection performed on March 20-23, 1989, Region III hereby withdraws the violation concerning the quality assurance audit of transportation activities as required in 10 CFR 71.137 and referenced in the Notice of Violation.
Our inspection on March 20-23, 1989 (Inspection Report No. 70-0036/89001),
revealed that qualified independent auditors had inspected your transportation program during the 1986, 1987, and 1988 operating years.
We had not reviewed those records during our previous inspection.
Violation 2 in our Notice of Violation dated February 3, 1989, is not valid and has been withdrawn.
We sincerely regret any inconvenience that the Notice of Violation may have caused your facility operations.
