                                                    NOTICE OF VIOLATION
Union Electric Company                                                          Docket No. 50-483
As a result of the inspection conducted on June 25 through September 3, 1985,
and in accordance with the General Policy and Procedures for NRC Enforcement
Actions 10 CFR Part 2, Appendix C, the following violation was identified:
Technical Specification 3.2.1, Axial Flux Difference (AFD), Action a. states,
                  in part:
"With the indicated AFD outside of the required target band and with
THERMAL POWER greater than or equal to 90% of RATED THERMAL POWER,
                        within 15 minutes, either:
                        1.  Restore the indicated AFD to within the above required target band
                              limits, or
                        2.  Reduce THERMAL POWER to less than 90% of RATED THERMAL POWER."
Contrary to the above, on August 17, 1985, while at 90% to 100% reactor
Thermal Power, the reactor was operated beyond the allowable target band for
an accumulated time of 141 minutes.
This is a Severity Level IV violation (Supplement 1).
The inspection showed that licensee action had been taken to correct the
violation and to prevent recurrence. Consequently, no reply to this violation
is required and we have no further questions regarding this item.
