Purpose

NRCisissuingthisinformationnotice(IN)toalertaddresseestothepotentialhazardsassociatedwiththevolatilizationofradiochemicalsand/orradiopharmaceuticalsifcontainment

isbreachedduringchemicalorphysicalprocessing.Theincidentdescribedbelowinvolvesthevolatilizationoftechnetium-99m(Tc-99m)duringthemanufactureofacardiacimagingagentinaradiopharmacy.However,licenseesshouldbe

awareofthepotentialhazardsposedbythevolatilizationofotherradionuclidesundersimilar

conditionsandensurethattheiremergencyproceduresadequatelyaddressthosehazards.Itisexpectedthatrecipientswillreviewthisinformationforapplicabilitytotheiroperationsandconsideractions,asappropriate.However,suggestionscontainedinthisinformationnoticeare
