I In a letter to you dated July 9, 1987, we transmitted the staff's Safety Evaluation regarding the above subject.

Based on a discussion with Mr. C.

Krause of your staff, we have identified an error in our transmittal which requires correction. Specifically, in both the third paragraph of the cover letter, and the fifth paragraph on page 4 of the Safety Evaluation, reference is made to subarticle "IWB-3123" of Section XI of the ASME Code. This l

reference is incorrect. The correct reference is to subarticle "IWB-3122.4."

l No subarticle IWB-3123 exists for the Code Edition and Addenda applicable to Point Beach, Unit 1.

This correction in no way affects the conclusions presented in our July 9,1987 letter.
