Hope Creek letter of 1/6/93 to T. Stevenson (Coltec)
HCT-93-11 l- Attna Mr. D. Wray, Systems Engineer PSE&G
Dear:
Hr. Wray After an extensive Engineering review by both our Systems and Engine Engineering groups, it has been determined that a substantial Safety
. Hazard'does not exist. Therefore Fairbanks Horse does not consider the event reported to us as a Part 21 from our. stand point. By copy of this letter to Mr. W. Haass, the USNRC is.being advised of our findings.
Furthermore,- a series of check valves were installed to prevent _the:
reverse flow .-discharge feeding intake, scenario. described.in1several letters sent-to1us. If the check valves are in place.'there can be'no reverse flow through'either of the pumps.
We have found the root cause to be that upon receipt of.-these_ pumps:at Fairbanks Horse,_they were' mismarked'with the wrong.part number. Only:.
4 of these pumps were ordered for Service Stock, and the location of the fourth pump is not at a Nuclear Site.
A check of our Parts Dedication Program'(SP 750) shows that a flow Echeck is required to-verify the correct rotation of<the pump. Thus in any. future Safety Related orders you can be assured'that the correct rotation pumps will be delivered.
-nsh Sincerely.
