Grand Gulf Nuclear Station File 0260/0266/15521/15525 Potentially Reportable Deficiency No. 79/04 Interin Report No. 4 AECM-80/18 On February 23, 1979, Mississippi Power & Light Company notified Mr. W. B. Kenna of your of fice of a potentially reportable deficiency at the Grand Gulf Nuclear Station construction site.

The deficiency concerns inadequate crimping on certain Power Generation Control Complex interconnecting cable pin connections supplied by the General Electric Company.

General Electric initiated the following Field Disposition Instructions (FDI) to investigate the deficiency:

1.

FDI-WAGM was issued to inspect the termination modules for damaged wire insulation. This FDI has been completed and the results are currently being evaluated.

2.

FDI-WAGN was issued to perform an inspection of all CC supplied PGCC cables and to repair / rework cables as required. This inspection is in progress.

3.

The s.: ope of the investigation has been expanded to include a pin pull teet of crimp strength in the Panel inserGT "od connectors. This was accomplished by issuance of FDI-h'AHX in December, 1979. This inspection is in progress.
