1. Letter from NRC to All Power Reactor Licensees, "Request for Information Pursuant to Title 10 of the Code of Federal Regulations 50.54(f) Regarding Recommendations 2.1, 2.3 and 9.3, of the Near-Term Task Force Review of Insights from the Fukushima Dai-ichi Accident," dated March 12, 2012 (ML12056A046).
2. Letter from D.W. Rencurrel to NRC Document Control Desk, "Final Response to NRC Request for Information Pursuant to 10 CFR 50.54(f) Regarding the Flooding Aspects of Recommendation 2.3 of the Near-Term Task Force Review of Insights from the Fukushima Dai-Ichi Accident," dated November 26, 2012 (NOC-AE-12002932)(ML12340A156).

On March 12, 2012, the NRC issued Reference 1 to all power reactor licensees and holders of construction permits in active or deferred status. Enclosure 4 of Reference 1 requested that each licensee perform flood protection walkdowns and report the results within 180 days of NRC endorsement of the flooding walkdown procedure (NEI 12-07). STPNOC completed the flood protection walkdowns at South Texas Project Units 1 & 2 and submitted the results in Reference

2. Reference 2 contained open items where restricted access prevented walkdown of certain flood protection features.

Walkdowns of the restricted access items have been completed and this letter provides the results. This submittal closes all the open items in Reference 2.STI: 33878631 I NOC-AE-14003140 Page 2 of 3 The attached table (Enclosure

1) provides a list of the restricted access items inspected, their respective disposition, and any action planned or taken. As a result of the inspections:
  • There were 16 deficiencies found (encompassed by two item numbers) and all were entered into the site Corrective Action Program (CAP).* No temporary measures were required as a result of the completed inspections.
  • The flood protection features, including all restricted access items, will be included in various plant maintenance and monitoring programs (see Condition Report (CR)12-11656-24).
  • One restricted access item has been reclassified as inaccessible.

Additionally, this letter also corrects an error in Attachment 2 of Reference 2 -the "List of Restricted Access Items" table. In the last row of this table, the identifying number of the flood protection feature was inadvertently copied from the line above. The correct identification number has been provided in this submittal.

There are no commitments in this letter. If there are any questions regarding this letter, please contact Wendy Brost at (361) 972-8516 or me at (361) 972-7566.I declare under penalty of perjury that the foregoing is true and correct.Executed on ___ ___q_ ?oil Dated G.T.
