Dear Mr. Duncan:

By letter dated November 14, 2006, Carolina Power & Light Company, doing business as Progress Energy Carolinas, Inc. (PEC), submitted an application pursuant to 10 CFR Part 54, to renew the operating license for Shearon Harris Nuclear Power Plant, Unit 1, for review by the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC or the staff).

During the weeks of May 21, 2007 and June 25, 2007, the staff led a project team responsible for auditing and reviewing selected aging management programs, aging management reviews, and time-limited aging analysis described in the license renewal application. A summary of the audit and review results is accessible from the Agencywide Documents Access and Management System (ADAMS) Public Electronic Reading Room through the Internet at http://www.nrc.gov/reading-rm/adams.html under Accession Number ML080800243.
