r December 3,1982 REFUELING INFORMATION REQUEST 1.

Name of Facility: Calvert Cliffs Nuclear Power Plant, Unit No. 2.

2.

Scheduled date for next refueling shutdown: October 15,1982.

3.

Scheduled date for restart fonowing refueling: January 12,1983*.

4.

Will refueling or resumption of operation thereaf ter require a technical specification change or other licensed amendment?

Resumption of operation after refueling will require changes to Technical Specifications. The changes will be such as to allow operation of the plant with a frest reload batch and reshuffled core.

5.

Meduled date(s) for submitting proposed licensing action and supporting information.

October 11,1982 6.

Important licensing considerations associated with refueling.

Reload fuel will be similar to that reload fuel inserted in the previous cycle.

7.

SUMMARY

OF UNIT 1 OPERATING EXPERIENCE NOVEMBER 1982 11/1 At the beginning of this reporting period Unit I was operating at 905 MWe with the reactor at 100% power.

11/5 Decreased load to 880 MWe at 0645 to isolate a lifting relief valve on 16A Feedwater Heater. Resumed full load operation (910 MWe) at 2300.

11/7 At 0620 load was decreased to 790 MWe for replacement of 12A Traveling Screen. Load was increased to capacity (910 MWe) at 1300.

11/9 The reactor tripped at 0947 on low steam generator level when power was lost to the feedwater regulating valves due to the loss of #11 vital AC bus. Loss of the bus was due to the inadvertent opening of the supply breaker to #11 inverter.

The reactor was brought critical at 2247.

11/10 The unit was paralleled at 0423. Resumed full load operation (900 MWe) at 2300.

11/19 At 1530 load was reduced to 840 MWe to investigate saltwater leakage into the main condenser. Load was increased to 900 MWe at 2030 when indications of saltwater leakage disappeared.

11/21 Decreased load to 750 MWe at 0125 to test Main Turbine Control Vaives. Load was increased to capacity (910 MWe) at 0400.

11/30 At 2307 load was reduced to 850 MWe to investigate saltwater leakage into the main condenser. At the end of this reporting period Unit I was operating at 850 MWe with the reactor at 91.5% power while investigating saltwater leakage into the main condenser.

SUMMARY

OF UNIT 2 OPERATING EXPERIENCE NOVEMBER 1982 11/1 At the beginning of this reporting period Unit 2 was shutdown for its 4th scheduled refueling outage.

11/9 Commenced fuel handling.

11/20 Completed fuel handling.

11/30 At the end of this reporting period Unit 2 remained shutdown for its 4th scheduled refueling outage.
