January 1 7, 2018 Post Fukushima Order Implementation Status Mitigating Strategies (MS) Order (EA-12-049) Compliance Status
- As of January 11, 2018, 9 3 of 99 reactor units are in compliance with Order EA-12-049, and therefore have the required FLEX equipment and connections in place.
Those units are highlighted in green in the table.
- Thirteen units (boiling water reactors with Mark I or Mark II containments
) were granted an extension to the required compliance date for Order EA-12-049 to align with the schedule requirements for the final installation of severe accident capable hardened containment vents. As stipulated when the extensions were granted, FLEX equipment and connections are in place at these units
. Seven of those 13 units are now fully in compliance.
- The NRC staff perform s inspections in accordance with NRC Inspection Manual Temporary Instruction 2515/191 (TI
-191) after all units at a site have notified us that they are in compliance to verify that required FLEX equipment and connections are in place.
- The staff has completed TI
-191 inspections at 41 sites. Spent Fuel Pool Instrumentation (SFPI) Order (EA-12-051) Compliance Status
- As of June 30, 2017, all reactor units are in compliance with Order EA-12-0 51. - The NRC staff inspect s for compliance with the SFPI Order in conjunction with the inspection s for Order EA-12-049. Severe Accident Capable Hardened Containment Vent System (HCVS) Order (EA-13-109) Compliance Status
- Order EA-13-109 established a schedule for applicable licensees (boiling water reactors with Mark I or Mark II containments) to achieve full compliance with Phase 1 (wetwell vent) by June 30, 2018 and full compliance with Phase 2 (drywell vent or a strategy that makes drywell venting unlikely) by June 30, 2019. - As of January 11, 2018, 19 of 30 applicable reactor units are in compliance with Phase 1, and 3 of 30 applicable reactor units are in compliance with Phase
- 2. - Two units have been granted extensions to the required compliance dates until after the ir planned final shutdown dates. These units have operable hardened vents in place providing compensatory measures
. - The NRC staff will perform inspections for compliance with the HCVS Order in accordance with NRC Inspection Manual Temporary Instruction 2515/19 3 (TI-19 3) after all units at a site are in compliance
. - A pilot TI
-193 inspection is planned for summer/fall of 2018
. A table with the Order Compliance Status is provided on the following page
