Dear Michael Ruszkowski:

By letter dated July 23, 2024 (Agencywide Documents Access and Management System (ADAMS)

Accession No. ML24205A146), Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI) submitted EPRI Technical Report 3002028939, Risk-Informed High-Energy Line Break Evaluation Requirements, to the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) for review and approval. EPRI Report 3002028939 provides an alternative means for assessing and confirming that plant structures, systems, and components that are important to safety are adequate to accommodate the effects of postulated accidents, including appropriate protection against the dynamic and environmental effects of postulated pipe ruptures.

By letter dated July 11, 2024 (ADAMS Accession No. ML23352A054), the NRC staff accepted EPRI TR 3002025288 for review.

By email dated October 25, 2024 (ADAMS Accession No. ML24298A056), the NRC staff issued an audit plan for the staffs review of EPRI TR 3002025288.

The NRC staff conducted a virtually at NRC Headquarters in Rockville, Maryland, from November 8, 2024-May 23, 2025, to increase its understanding of the application and identify information that will require docketing to support the NRC staffs regulatory findings. The regulatory audit report documenting the documents reviewed and subjects discussed is enclosed.
