MEETING ANNOUNCEMENT - 2006 U.S. NUCLEAR REGULATORY COMMISSION (NRC) INITIAL EXAM DEVELOPMENT WORKSHOP Region II NRC will host an Initial Examination Development Workshop on July 19 and 20, 2006.

The meeting will be held at the NRC Region II Office, Sam Nunn Atlanta Federal Center (Bridge Conference Rooms C & D), 61 Forsyth Street, S.W. Atlanta, GA 30303-3415.

The meeting will start at 8:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 19, 2006, and end at 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, July 20, 2006.

Members of your operations and training staffs are invited to attend this workshop. Please notify Ms. Pat Davenport of my staff at (404) 562-4622 or by electronic mail to pmd@nrc.gov with the names and positions of your staff who plan to attend the workshop by July 10, 2006.

The intent of this workshop is to clarify the exam development process and question development for both the written and operating portion of the initial examination. Topics of discussion will include Revision 9 of NUREG-1021, "Operator Licensing Examination Standards for Power Reactors," bank question sources, new question development, SRO only examination test items, question modification, use of bank questions, completion of exam review forms, examination validation and strategies, development of job performance measures, development of simulator scenarios, use of surrogates and pertinent recent events. This meeting is an open meeting and The NRCs Policy Statement, Enhancing Public Participation in NRC Meetings,
