Dear Mr. Ippolito:
Your letter of April 25, 1980, on the "Effect of a DC Power Supply Failure on ECCS Performance" requests confirmation of the ECCS equipment configurations identified in a General Electric Company generic study on this subject.
We have reviewed the ECCS design at Peach Bottom Atomic Power Station and have determined that the following ECCS equipment is available following a DC power supply failure.
For large and small recirculation loop discharge breaks:
Automatic depressurization system One core spray loop (2 pumps)
One low pressure coolant injection (LPCI) pump For large and small recirculation loop suction breaks:
Automatic depressurization system
(
One core spray loop (2 pumps) l Two LPCI pumps in one loop One LPCI pump in other loop This listing of available equipment takes into account both a DC power supply failure and loss of equipment due to water spillage and confirms the conclusions reached by Ceneral Electric Company in their generic study.
If you have any questions or require additional infor-mation, do not hesitate to contact us.
