Based on our review, we determined that the exercise objectives are appropriate to meet emergency plan requirements. The extent of simulation to be used during the exercise was discussed further with Messers. M. Evans and D. Lewis of your staff on July 15,1999. Mr. Evans provided satisfactory responses.

Dear Mr. Randofph:

We have reviewed your letter dated June 14,1999, and the enclosed objectives for the Callaway Plant, Unit 1,1999, emergency plan exercise scheduled for September 14,1999.

Based on our review, we determined that the exercise objectives are appropriate to meet emergency plan requirements. The extent of simulation to be used during the exercise was discussed further with Messers. M. Evans and D. Lewis of your staff on July 15,1999. Mr. Evans provided satisfactory responses.

We contacted the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Region Vil during our review. Mr. Joseph Schulte had no comrnents for us to relay to you.
