Defueling continued using the Airlift System through Thursday. On

Friday, defueling workers began probing the upper core surface. The p

current top of the core contains a number of rock like structures of varying size from a few inches to approximately 2 feet. The.GPU defueling crews are currently in a two-week outage for data

f US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) sample analysis results i

show that THI site liquid effluents are in accordance with

THI water effluents are sampled from tha station (Units 1 and 2) discharge and analyzed by EPA. Gama spectrum analyses of the seven

daily composited samples for January 17 - 23, 1987 1rdicated no M

Till-2 related radioactivity.

f EPA's ganua spectrum analysis of the llRC's THI outdoor air sample 4

for the period January 29 - February 5,1987 showed no reactor 6"

related radioactivity.

M The Lancaster water works intake composited seven daily samples y/

January 18 - 24, 1987. The gama spectrum analyzed by EPA showed no l

reactor related radioactivity.

AUXILIARY AND FUEL HANDLING BUILDING ACTIVITIES p

M Desludging of the Auxiliary Building Sump started during the week.

K Scabbling of the diesel generator baseuent was completed during the week.

Lo Scabbling of the Seal Injection Valve Room was terminated during the 4

week. Modifications are being made to facilitate waste pickup.

• Flushing of tha pressurizer spray line was completed.

liEETIfiG The next r.:eeting of the Advisory Panel for the' Decontanination of Three Nile Island Unit 2 will be held on February 26, 1987, at the Lancaster Council Chanbers, Public Safety Building, 201 North Duke Street, Lancaster, PA. The NEC and CPU huclear staffs will respond to the Panel's questions on the licensee's proposed disposition of the accident-generated water and on the T4RC staff's Draft Environnental Impact Statenent on the disposal of accident-generated water. There utl1 be an opportunity for public coment.

The necting is presently schedaled to begin at 3:30 Pit and will continue into the evening.
