Grand Gulf Nuclear Station Unit 1 and Unit 2 Docket No. 50-416 and 50-417 License No. NPF-13 File: 0260/L-835.0 PRD-84/06, Interim Report for Unit 2, Potential Defect in Spare Piston Skirt Casings AECM-84/0464 Per the referenced letter, Mississippi Power & Light Company (MP&L) provided a 10CFR21 Report for Grand Gulf Nuclear Station (GGNS) Unit 1 and reported that reportability for Unit 2 was indeterminate at the time. The deficiency concerned improper heat treatment for certain spare TDI piston skirt casings. This letter prcvides a status update for the Unit 2 evaluation for reportability of this item under 10CFR50.55(e).
MP&L is currently awaiting outcome from the Transamerica Delaval, Inc.
(TDI) Diesel Generator Owners Group concerning this problem and other problems related to TDI Diesel Generators. Reportability for GGNS Unit 2 is still indeterminate. MP&L expects to submit an update for Unit 2 by January 26, 1985.
