After discussions with members of the NRC Staff, Commonwealth Edison will augment the commitment made in Reference (1) relative to small pipe vibration monitoring. Specifically, for the main steam line flow instrument lines for which no inspection was committeo, a visual inspection and line walkdown will be performed prior to fuel loading. This inspection will be conducted in conjunction with the Region III Office of Inspection and Enforcement, and will include the participation of an engineer qualified in the dynamic design of piping supports. This inspection will involve visual examination of the lines in question for the potential for excessive vibration. In the event resupporting of any of these lines is judged to be required, the additional supports will be added prior to pressurization of the lines with steam. | After discussions with members of the NRC Staff, Commonwealth Edison will augment the commitment made in Reference (1) relative to small pipe vibration monitoring. Subject:
LaSalle County Station Units 1 and 2 Resolution of SER Open Item 2 Small Pipe Vibration Monitoring NRC Docket Nos. 50-373/374 Reference (1). L. O. DelGeorge letter to B. J. Youngblood dated March 27, 1981
Dear Mr. Youngblood:
It is judged that this commitment satisfies the Staff concern, and is sufficient to resolve the open issue. The commitment will be formally documented in a future FSAR amendment.
Very truly yours, y ,
