==Dear Mr. Johnson:==

On September 18, 1985, we verbally notified your Mr. T. F. Westerman of a deficiency involving conduit which was not installed in accordance with design documents. This is an interim report of a potentially reportable item under the provision of 10CFR50.55(e). Our most recent interim report was logged TXX-4962, dated August 18, 1986.
The program developed to evaluate this condition consists of the following three issues:
: 1) Cable slack adequacy.
: 2)  Conduit-to-equipment interfaces outside the vendor approved entry area.
: 3)  Conduit orientation within the vendor approved entry area.
The cable slack adequacy program includes field verification and engineering evaluation of data in accordance with developed instruction / procedures using a sampling approach. The results of the program will determine if a generic cable slack problem exists. This program is currently in progress and a completion date for this effort is projected to be November 24, 1986.
The second part of the evaluation will determine if any adverse impact results from conduit-to-equipment interfaces outside of the vendor approved entry areas. This program is currently underway and projected for completion by November 1, 1986.
We have also studied possible conduit orientation problems within vendor approved' entry areas and have found no evidence to indicate that conditions adverse to quality exist. This portion of the evaluation was completed September 12, l W f$b Y
