By letter dated June 26, 1987 LP&L transmitted revision I to the Waterford 3 Basemat Monitoring Program. This revision was. submitted for NRC review and approval in accordance with License Condition i
l 2.C.17 of Facility Operating License NPF-038.
By letter. dated' l
October 27, 1987 the NRC accepted Revision 1 to the.Waterford 3 Basemat Monitoring Program.
l Included in the monitoring program was the requirement to perform a photographic. survey of the lower portion of the; Shield Building and selected exterior walls in the cooling tower areas-The photographic survey is used to assist in de termining t he. integrity of the basemat.
The photographic survey was to be performed'for two additional 18 month cycles and then be discontinued provided no significant' changes were noted. The first survey was performed in June 1986, subsequent surveys

were performed in December 1987 and May 1989..No significant changes were noted during performance of these surveys.
This letter serves to inform you that in accordance with the Waterford 3 Basemat Monitoring Program LP&L has discontinued the photographic surveys.
The monitoring program implementing procedure will be revised to reflect this change.
